It’s been a much more relaxed couple of days as we prepare to head to a consistent residence and volunteer gig in Fort Myers this weekend.
On Monday, Evan and I had our first ever adventure sailing. Rolo, a wonderful mentor of mine from RMRYLA, took us out for a beautiful day on the water. He also took us on a driving tour through Coral Gables before dropping us off near Aventura Mall where we wondered around and found a delicious little shop called Rosetta Bakery.
That evening, we got to surprise one of my childhood best friends, Jamie, who was visiting Florida on an anniversary trip. We had the opportunity to photograph her boyfriend Scott proposing to her. It was definitely a highlight.
Tuesday we started our day with a Zoom meeting of the Miami Brickell Passport Satellite Club. There was a mix-up with our next meeting but on the way there we had a fantastic conversation with our Uber driver, a rapper (check out his Instagram here: juiceliii) with an interest in nonprofits and food, something I loved getting to connect over.
After the mix up, we found our way to lunch and ice cream with the newly engaged couple. We all wandered around a large antiques market and played some card games.
The evening ended with a social meeting with the Pompano Beach Lighthouse Club at the Oceanic. This was an incredible club for me to connect with and their passions for service and Rotary were a beautiful reminder of why we’re on this adventure.
Today, Wednesday, was date day. We took a trip up to Palm Beach and did a lot of exploring before sharing a yummy meal (first time this week I’ve had access to a stove!) and watching a few episodes of Bones.
