The last few days have been much quieter but with many wonderful opportunities for connection.
On Monday, Susan took us to our second meeting with the Fort Myers South Club where we listened to a speaker address the many concerns homeowners have for insurance and rebuilding.
On Tuesday, we were invited by Judith Hammond (who got us into housing) and Kelsey Mitchell (who coordinates much of the hurricane relief efforts)to attend the dinner meeting of the Bonita Beach Sunset Rotary Club. Dinner was delicious and it was fantastic to get to attend on their charter night and during their District Governor visit. The absolute highlight of the night though was hearing from two people who’s home we worked on at Fort Myers Beach. They’ve decided to join Rotary so they can continue to pay forward the good that has been done for them. This was a beautiful reminder of everything I love about this organization.
Wednesday evening I joined my first official meeting with the Five Points RiNo Rotary Club and was able to learn about the Gold Crown Foundation, an enrichment and education focused nonprofit aiding at-risk youth in Colorado and other nearby communities.
When not at these meetings, we were going on a boba and rolled ice cream date, preparing and serving dinner for a casual dinner party for new local friends, doing work for our actual day jobs, being introduced (late in the game, I know) to The Handmaid’s Tale, tracing the path of Tropical Storm Nicole, and getting vaccinated for tetanus.
We’ll see how the weather progresses but tomorrow will likely be another day of finding work to do inside rather than out.
