From the beginning of this trip, I said that it was my goal to learn to be more flexible…
So, of course, the Universe has decided to test me on that.
When our intended housing plan fell through, I spent most of Monday making calls to potential contacts to try to find a fit. Unfortunately, by the end of the day it hadn’t panned out. We made a decision to open up to other options and thankfully we have one lined up (updates on that pending, there’s a lesson somewhere here about being careful about speaking before things happen).
Though the day had been a little rough, we ended the night happily at Mission BBQ with Howard West Rotary Club learning about Thread, a Baltimore based organization with a focus on impacting underserved youth through the power of connection. Both the charity and the club itself, as the first majority-minority club I’d ever attended, hit close to my heart.
The next day, knowing that our plans had shifted, Evan and I decided to take some advice we’d received from Susan and enjoy the place we were in. We spent the day on a date, taking a long walk through the gorgeous fall colors, visiting a local restaurant, and playing board games at a local game cafe.
It’s now late Wednesday evening and after a nearly twelve hour flight day, and some catching up with my family, we are back in Colorado preparing for the next step on this wild adventure.
