The last few days have been relaxing at home with family before Evan’s birthday/New Year’s Day. So with not much to tell about, here are the top five questions we get about our journey.

How are you getting around?

In order to get from state to state, we have been flying. To get to volunteer jobs, host homes, and club meetings we have gotten a lot of practice with various forms of public transit. We have been grateful for carpools, family pick-ups, host assisted car borrowing or rides. We also have spent a lot of time in Lyfts and Ubers.

What are you doing besides volunteering?

Besides volunteering, we are trying to do various activities in the different areas we visit. We are also trying to spend time with people we know in the areas. Additionally, we make ourselves available to assist our hosts around their homes and do work for clubs such as photography and speaking.

How do you find clubs/hosts?

Rotary Club Finder websites have been a huge help in finding meetings. For finding hosts, we network by sending emails, calling clubs, and directly connecting with club members.

How did you come up with this?

This idea grew completely out of my love for Rotary and service. Evan joined me to enjoy a gap year before focusing on his career and has found a passion for service alongside mine though our specific areas of interest vary.

How are you paying for this?

Currently, Evan works for his mom’s photography company and I do freelance blogging for a marketing company. This trip is not presently sponsored by Rotary.
