First Speeches – Planned and Impromptu

It’s been an exciting few days for Coddiwomple!

On Monday, we spent more time with Kai and my cousin, Sebastian, continuing to make a dent in our D&D game before going to spend time with our friend Angella and catching up on her recent trip to Mexico.

On Tuesday, we had our first opportunity to give a speech to a Rotary club. This was planned several weeks ago and I’d been looking forward to it since. We spoke to the Boulder Valley Rotary about our adventure this year and especially our time in Florida. We were able to make connections about organizations to connect with in the future and were able to talk to others who had done hurricane recover work. It was exciting to be able to share our stories and made me even more excited for what’s to come the rest of the year.

Today, we had an impromptu speech at our second Rotary meeting. We were attending a meeting with Loveland-Mountain View Rotary. This was a very special meeting because Kai joined this meeting to thank this club for sending him to RYLA and I was attending to thank them for a scholarship they’d given me a few years prior. Both of us, and Evan, were asked to speak about our experiences and life adventures and it was a very full circle moment to be able to acknowledge credit a club that had given a lot to our family.

Following this meeting, we went with our parents on a family trip to Costco. This might sound a little odd but, especially lately, I’m realizing how much gratitude I have to my parents for raising Kai and I in a way that we can be entertained and find enjoyment anywhere and with anything.
