1. Installing drywall
Emotionally, tearing apart other people’s houses is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. This made Evan and I eager to jump in with Habitat for Humanity to build a home instead. It was definitely interesting to learn a new skill but there was also definitely a learning curve. From the precision of measuring to the use of new equipment, it required about 300x the mental gymnastics to complete this task in this direction than it had to tear it out.
2. Getting a passport
Researching what needed to be done, calling the helpline, clicking every possible button within the call line to talk to a real person to get a question answered, finding our documents, doing the paperwork, obtaining checks, reprinting paperwork on a new printer because technology likes to fail at important times, getting photos at the county office, and getting the paperwork to the post office to send off… From beginning to end this was probably an eight hour project for really no good reason.
3. Puzzles with animal shaped pieces??
Sunday was spent doing brunch with my family like every week. After turkey enchiladas, Evan, Kai, and I helped my grandmother and great-grandmother with a puzzle that had been a Christmas gift. It took the five of us a couple hours despite the week’s work of progress that had already been done though I’ll admit, it was super cool when it came together.
I’m looking forward to whatever new challenges and unintentional learning experiences come up in the next few days.
