Knowing that a big focus of this year has been flexibility, it’s surprised me how much time I do spend planning and conceptualizing things before they even happen. Monday was a day like that. I spent a good bit of time making calls and sending emails as we figure out the next leg of this journey calculating flight prices, contemplating speaking offers, and making sure we’re taking advantage of every possible opportunity.
Tuesday I had the opportunity to reconnect to an incredible mentor of mine, Karen Trusler. Karen was one of my Senior Counselor Rotarian partners at RYLA and has been a constant source of joy and wisdom in my life since. She’s advocated for and encouraged me at every turn and getting to see her again, talking about RYLA and this travel year, and having her meet Evan was so much fun (despite my noticable lack of photos).
Wednesday was a highlight in my personal life outside Coddiwomple. I got to take Kai to visit Metropolitan State, where I graduated from, as he considers his options for school. We toured and met the coach and I had ample opportunity to brag about how amazing my brother is. It’s hard to believe how old he’s getting but so exciting to see what’s next for him. We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering Denver before wrapping the day up with a Five Points RiNo meeting hearing Councilman Chris Hinds speak about his work around accessibility in Denver.
