Valentine’s and RYLA Adjacent Adventures

On Monday, Rolo took me to lunch for one final RYLA discussion at a historic Cuban restaurant that ended up supplying two of my meals because I liked it so much. After a tasty lunch, Evan’s plane landed early and Coddiwomple was officially united in the Miami Airport.

We spent a couple hours trying to get some issues with our hotel sorted out. (Huge shout out to Kai for managing to fix it from across the country and my Dad for helping get discount forms sorted out.)

Once we made it to the hotel, I took Evan back to the lunch restaurant, Versailles, and he ended up with the same dish I had for lunch.

The next day we got to celebrate Valentine’s Day together, one of only a few we’ve gotten to be in person for. We got up early for free continental breakfast, napped for a few hours, then spent the rest of the afternoon watching Bones, before ordering some fancy cookies to eat with our leftover dinner.

Wednesday we packed up our hotel room and headed to a meeting with the Rotary Club of Hallandale Beach-Aventura. Two of the Senior Counselors I met this weekend (Georgia and Marushka) are members of the club and between them and Rolo guest-speaking, it felt like a mini-RYLA reunion. All four of us were able to share a few of our experiences with the club. This is one of a few different Rotary meetings I’m hoping to attend post-RYLA to share about the conference. In the meantime, Edgar, another fantastic Senior Counselor has opened his home to us for the next few days as we visit these other clubs.

We ended our night with a walking adventure to Aldi’s and an easy pasta dinner.
