Back to Back Road Trip

In the last three days, we’ve driven around 650 miles. Our journey into Blacksburg, Virginia didn’t quite go as planned.

Monday began with problems with our rental car that led to us returning to Evan’s house without one. Thankfully, AnneMarie was willing to lend us her car long enough for us to get to Blacksburg and check in with our host, Michael Abraham.

Michael and his sweet corgi Denali showed us around a house full of travel trinkets and stained glass Michael has created. The next day, with our temporary car situation still needing sorted, we made our way back to Virginia Beach. Luckily, Michael is willing to host us the week of the 27th for a redo on this visit.

After getting the car cleaned up and returned, I spent some time working with Kai to finalize his RYLA presentation, we watched a show with Evan’s parents, and then we spent most of today catching up on sleep and trying to plan next steps.

Once again, I’m working hard to practice my patience and flexibility and we’re holding onto the good in the chaos. Being in an area we know well for our anniversary this weekend, Michael’s willingness to welcome us back, and the volunteer gigs Mrs. Young has helped us to find to keep us occupied while we’re back in Virginia Beach.

Let’s see what comes next.
