Low Productivity Gratitude Posting

After getting snowed out of our Earth Day volunteer project, I was feeling pretty disheartened about our productivity lately. Though it’s been very good to spend time with family, especially during Kai’s senior year, I also have struggled often this year when I didn’t feel like I was doing enough. Fortunately, Evan was ways around to reassure me. To remind me of the many little things we’ve done that I like to gloss over, to give me credit for the little nuances of planning that aren’t as fun or glamorous to write, and to encourage me during times where rest was truly needed to even get to the next step.

I’ve been extremely fortunate this year to have him with me and, with little to say in this post, I’d like to take this post to thank him.

At about 9:30pm tonight, I was reminded there was a chance of seeing the Northern Lights sometime between 10pm and 2am. I decided right then that I wanted to try to. Evan was immediately onboard. He took care of packing our overnight bag and even checked Estes to see if there were any Rotary meetings for us to attend tomorrow. Now we’re sitting outside, where we’ll be for the next few hours, and he’s buried in layers, because a Virginia upbringing didn’t brace him for Colorado night temps, but still happily next to my side.

It’s the kind of support I’ve had all year. Sometimes I have to be reminded not to take it for granted but this year truly couldn’t have happened without him and his support. So thank you, my love. Because your unwavering support to even my strangest whims has made this year the magical experience it’s been. Through every productivity struggle and flexibility challenge, you’ve helped me along and hyped me up and there’s not enough words to thank you for that.
