New Rotary Beginnings and Other Adventures

Though we didn’t manage to see the Northern Lights, Evan got to see his first shooting star and we had a fun night listening to podcasts and finding constellations. We slept in Monday before visiting Raven’s Roast, our favorite little coffee shop in Estes, at its new location. That evening my family went out to dinner to celebrate everyone being back in town, my recently passed birthday, and my mom’s upcoming birthday.

Tuesday was a Kai focused day. We started with baking a sopapilla cheesecake for Kai’s track dinner that evening. In the afternoon, we drove around Fort Collins trying to find suspenders and a bowtie for Kai’s prom. Finally, we headed to a recognition ceremony for Kai’s college and career readiness program and celebrated his completion of his CNA clinicals.

On Wednesday, we started planning what we hope will soon become our out-of-country journey. Fingers crossed that soon we’ll be able to explore the “international” portion of Rotary International. I also had the opportunity to attend a social for my new Rotary Club, the Loveland-Mountain View Rotary Club, at Mash Lab Brewery. After a year of floating to other clubs, and trying actively to join a solid one, it’s exciting to have a steady club to be part of.
