Wining and Dining

Thursday started bright and early volunteering on the breakfast shift with my dad. It was a special breakfast where the residents got to have eggs made to order right in front of them so it was fun to help him serve them and watch them enjoy. Everything I love about cooking is being able to serve people and seeing them enjoy it. Afterwards, I dropped Evan off to work at the winery.

Later that evening, I had the opportunity to return for a special event. The winery was doing a special tasting event for employees as they prepare to release their new menu. We got to try all of the wines and help rewrite the descriptions of the wines by deciphering flavor and aroma notes. It was quite a challenge but also a lot of fun.

The next day, I also did some work at the winery posting their summer music schedule, fingers crossed that this will be the last step to do. Then that night my family headed to dinner theater. We had the opportunity to see Cats. Though it’s highly controversial, even amongst fans of musical theater, it’s one of my favorite productions and we had a great time.

Saturday we headed to brunch with Angella before we all went off to a coffee shop so we could all get some work done. While Evan helped Ang review calculus, I prepared informational pamphlets for my talk on Mandated Reporting at Young RYLA that night.

Though I haven’t worked with YRYLA before, I was grateful to have the opportunity to help them with this topic. I was also thrilled to see a young woman who was on the very first RYLA team I led was a Head Counselor for this camp. It felt like a very special full circle moment and made me all the more confident in how well their camp will go. My presentation went well and I feel that much more prepared for my next two.

Today was a fairly quiet rainy day in with my family. It’s been really nice to get to spend a lot of time with them after traveling so much this year. I also had the opportunity to make plans with a lot of RYLA people in the next few days. Finally, we ended the evening doing dinner with my parents, Kai, grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousin, and great-grandma.
