Sibling Time

Most of my time this week has been spent with Kai. On Tuesday, he and I went out for a sibling snack adventure. We spent a few hours reflecting together on our RYLA experience and our goals and thoughts going forward. It was so awesome to share the experience of RYLA with him and now having someone to talk to about everything that happened and reflect with someone from a different angle on things has been a gift. We spent the rest of the rainy 4th of July with our family watching Loveland’s firework show and eating BBQ and homemade ice cream.

Wednesday, Kai went with me to Loveland Mountain View Rotary’s monthly meeting and we gave a presentation together about RYLA and our need for Rotarian Senior Counselors. I’ve loved getting to see his presentational skills grow throughout this year and we have our fingers crossed that the presentation reached the right ears.

Throughout the week we’ve been getting to plan for his 18th birthday party which will also coincide with a volunteer gig I’m doing in Las Vegas. I’m enjoying every possible moment with him as my baby brother grows into an adult person much too fast for my taste.
