It’s Kai’s Week

This week there’s been quite a bit going on. We’ve been shopping and preparing for our Vegas trip, looking for apartments, and celebrating Kai in full force.

Kai turned 18 this week and, despite his work schedule and him not feeling well, we’ve gotten to do little things every day to celebrate him. Friday we got to have breakfast with him, my grandma, and my parents and that evening we did dinner at home from a local restaurant. Saturday, the day of his birthday, we did cake and Sunday we did brunch with our extended family and Kai got his birthday gifts.

While Kai was working Saturday, Evan and I attended a Pride event in July. We went to the drag show at “Pride at Music City Hot Chicken.” It was a joyous celebration fundraiser for Splash a Northern Colorado organization for queer youth and families.

Around all this, I’ve spent a lot of time emailing back and forth with the coordinators of CombatCon the event I’ll be volunteering at in Vegas while Kai, his friends, and Evan attend and celebrate. We’ll be leaving late Tuesday night for the drive and I’m eager to be volunteering at an event I’ve gotten to attend and enjoy for the last few years. Before we can do that though, we’ll be visiting an apartment with Kai in Denver tomorrow! Hopefully our apartment search goes well.
