The last few days have been absolutely insane. We started the week looking at apartments that we are considering in Denver. We saw some good options but are still looking for the perfect fit.
On Tuesday we messed up our sleep schedule in preparation for an overnight drive. We went to bed at 2am and slept until 6am, then we stayed awake until 4pm. In the midst of this was one of our house tours, getting paperwork finalized for Kai and his friends for CombatCon, and looking for jobs to move back to.
When we finally woke up at 11pm, it was time to eat and leave for Vegas. We got going at about 12:45am and after journey across a few states, with some confusion and mini quests along the way, made it at around 1pm. Since Kai left a little later than us, we spent some time exploring the neighborhood around our AirBnB before he and his friends, Cody and Mikey, arrived.
Once the boys made it, we filled our afternoon with some activities to welcome them to CombatCon and to Vegas. We bought groceries for breakfasts and lunches at an awesome store called Mariana’s Supermarket. After getting everything bought and back to the house, we went adventuring again. We headed to the Flamingo, where the convention is hosted, and explored the animals there as well as exploring the surrounding space. I also enjoyed meeting my volunteering supervisor. Afterwards we wandered the M&M store and then took the boys to Fremont Street Experience. We had dinner at Dirt Dog, one of my favorite Vegas restaurants, an incredible hot dog place with an elote dog I think about year-round. Kai and his friends raced go-karts, we watched street musicians and magicians, and we all went souvenir shopping.
I’m writing this as we head back to the AirBnb, absolutely exhausted, and I prepare to start volunteering with CombatCon tomorrow.
