Countdown to Mexico

What a week it’s been already and so much more to come!

On Monday, we had two apartment tours much more promising than the others and are hopeful to be approved in the next week. That evening I got to attend a RYLA feedback and debriefing meeting. We discussed everything that happened at camp, good and bad, and what we’d like to see happen in the next year as we strive to continue improving.

On Tuesday, we volunteered with my dad helping work the breakfast/lunch prep shift. We managed to finish all the breakfast dishes within 15 minutes with the knowledge the water needed to be turned off for an hour. Despite the stress, it’s truly been a highlight of my year to get to work so closely and so often with my dad. That night, we headed to our friend’s house for a housewarming party. We had homemade curry and hung out while watching Kim Possible for hours. It was such a chill fun evening and as the week ramps up more, I’m glad we got that time.

Wednesday morning we helped our friend move the last of their stuff out of storage before we all got lunch together. We went up to Estes for our final Boys and Girls Club volunteer shift of the summer and had a fantastic time watching the kids build edible constellations and sun catchers for space week. It’s insane to me how much they’ve all grown up in the year I’ve been gone so it’s fun to have these opportunities to go back and just have fun and exist with them. After BGC, we took my glasses in to get fixed before Mexico, went shopping for the final things we need to travel, and got our clothes in the wash to be packed. Friday is coming quick!
