This 7 Year Old Runs My Life Now

What a crazy and cool little whirlwind the last few days have been. Around all of the actual happenings, there’s been lots of Minecraft, lots of movie watching, some story time, some cuddles, and just a general new energy in the house. Having a 7 year old in the house definitely has the whole family on our toes but it’s been so much fun!

Monday, after spending the morning with Rock Jr. I went to Denver to hangout and people watch with a friend at the airport. Kai tells me this is an insanely weird place to hangout but if you like people watching, the airport is actually really pleasant when you’re not in a panicked rush or stranded there by flooding.

Tuesday morning started bright and early with jury duty. I was among the 12 interviewed by the judge and attorneys but was not selected in the six to sit in on the trial. It was a really interesting experience in how the justice system works up close and personal and it makes me even more excited for my future and for the work ahead.

That night, we packed up the whole family (my parents, Kai, Rock, Evan, my friend/sister Angella, and Kai’s girlfriend Beau) and headed off to the county fair. Rock, having never been to one, was in awe of literally everything. He also took the opportunity to make me be brave and face my fears. It’s been over 10 years since I got on a Ferris wheel but since I completely refuse to teach him my irrational fear, he sure did get me to ride it with him. Besides the mini heart attack, it was a night of rides and giant corn dogs and lots of smiles.

Today was a much quieter day spent at the park and learning card games on the porch.

Tomorrow, we’re headed to a huge playground in Denver for a picnic and there’s many more plans to come. Despite how much life has changed recently, I’m so beyond excited for everything to come.
