Exhausting Adventures

Oh my goodness, watching a 7 year old almost full time is 1000x more exhausting than volunteering but I’m loving every minute of time spent with him.

On Thursday we checked out an awesome park called Paco Sanchez. We had a delicious little picnic and a fun afternoon playing and climbing on all the different equipment. I’m insanely proud of Rock for the way he’s begun facing his fears of bugs and heights and is getting more and more used to things. It’s impressive to see the confidence growing.

Friday was a more quiet day at home but we tried something new and baked and decorated a cake with sprinkles and planned to do a more elaborate one in the coming few days.

Saturday we went to an art event called “Art In The Park” with Rock, Kai, and my Mom. This event supports Loveland’s local artists and art community. Rock enjoyed looking around at all the different booths and art styles, especially the ones with animal pictures and the ones where he was able to touch the pieces. He also loved the face painter and became the cutest (and sleepiest) little tiger I’d ever seen. Afterwards, we road the mini train sponsored by the Loveland Lions and that night we got DQ with the coupon on our train ticket.

Today was a very busy day as we took Rock into thd mountains for the first time. We stopped at the cherry cider store on the way up before visiting my grandparents at the wine festival. After saying hi, we headed to Fun City amusement center. We road a giant slide, crashed in bumper cars, played arcade games, watched Rock on a bungee trampoline, and Evan even joined him in a water inflatable hamster ball activity. Afterwards, we got pizza from a local restaurant, Bob and Tony’s, and hung out at my aunt’s house before doing family dinner.

This week, we are looking for a volunteer event to take him to with us or a project to help with. Wish us luck!
