Thursday was just another work day but Friday I was lucky enough to have a three day weekend. Evan was also off so we got to spend a day together. We used the free tickets provided to zoo employees to visit the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. We had a yummy picnic lunch and spent over 8 hours there looking at all of the different exhibits and especially enjoying the hours later in the day with less people there.
It was super cool to see how exhibits I remember from my childhood have evolved and the work the museum is putting into moving itself into the future while remaining true to its origins and so many people’s favorite exhibits.
On Saturday, Evan got Gav and I tickets to go to the zoo. It’s been so cool to learn so much information from Evan and other staff members and getting to experience the zoo not just in a new way but also just more often has been such a cool learning opportunity. Seeing how much a baby mandrill grows in a week, watching exhibits be revamped and set up for Halloween, and even just hearing how two different volunteers share a talk on the same material has been such a special experience.
Sunday was spent on a variety of things. After brunch and a little more rest, I worked on some musical booking for my aunt for the fall and winter season. Afterwards I went to Ang’s to help her do some chores she needed more hands with. I also had the opportunity to write a scholarship for Beau. I’ve loved getting to know her this year and getting to highlight her not just as my friend and Kai’s girlfriend but as an amazing leader and person was such a fun little task. I also started working to compile the photos and adventures of this year as it comes to a close, I’m hoping to provide more information on all the experiences we’ve had.
