As we work our way to October 20th, the day this blog started and the day it’ll end, it’s weird to watch my posts become less about service and more about trying to explain the lessons I’m learning just by being a person existing. This week my lesson in service above self came from letting others help me. If you know me in real life, I am extremely stubborn and, on occasion, have a hard time asking for and accepting help.
However, this week two of Kai’s high school friends, our grandparents, and our parents helped us move into our apartment just for helpfulness sake and (in the case if his friends) for just the cost of three large pizzas. Moving is one of my least favorite things to do, I think that’s true for most people. And due to all of the support we received, I even missed a half day of it to attend one of my favorite October events, “The Oddities and Curiosities Expo.” While everyone else got our furniture from Loveland to Denver, I watched a woman purchase a taxidermy hyena while I learned about different horror art mediums. Afterwards, they saved me again after Denver traffic had us stuck in a parking garage, unable to pickup the aforementioned pizza, and while we had the only key to the apartment. Not my best look but so insanely grateful to the people who supported us without a question.

Also! If I haven’t mentioned this amazing website, play.freerice.com donates food to people in need while you simply play a trivia and questions game. Highly highly recommend!
