Our day started unexpectedly early on Monday when at 6:30am, we learned my Dad needed some volunteers at work. We hopped into action and spent almost 9 hours at the retirement home with him cooking meals, cleaning dishes, serving food, and setting and resetting the dining room. Afterwards, we came home and crashed for an hour before I hopped onto a RYLA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee meeting. It was exciting to be discussing the summer and our upcoming goals.
Tuesday was another early morning as I headed down to Denver. I spent most of the day helping out a new Rotary friend who’s retiring from teaching and needed some help scanning all of the documents and lesson plans from over the years to leave to coworkers. Later that night we went over to Ang’s to celebrate her semester ending and help her with Mother’s Day shopping.
Today was such a special day. We had the opportunity to return for a visit to Estes Park Boys and Girls Club, where I worked for over a year and Evan joined me after his move to Colorado. It was so amazing to see all of our kids after almost a year and the hugs, smiles, and screams of joy made my whole month. All of them were so excited to tell us what they’ve been up to for the last year. Our attention was split in 20 different directions as they all talked and begged us to play different gym and board games all at once. We were there almost the whole time they were open and left with definite promises to return very soon. We headed to my aunt’s winery, Snowy Peaks, after that so that I could get some help before I finish her summer music schedule tomorrow.
